The Heritage Lottery Fund is searching for the next UK City of Culture for 2021. Eleven cities have already thrown their hats into the ring, in a bid to win the £3 million cash pot to use towards heritage projects.
Below is a map highlighting where each city is located. The final deadline for applications is April 2017, so there’s still plenty of time for more cities to be added to the list. The organisation will announce the shortlist in July and the winner will the announced in December.
After being crowned as the 2017 winner, Hull, has already received £1 billion worth of investment and expects this to boost its local economy by £60 million. So, clearly there’s a lot at stake.
